Everything you need to know before your session

What to wear

  • Choose neutral, earthy, or coastal tones: cream, taupe, sage, rust, soft blue, sand etc.
  • Avoid bold patterns, logos, or heavy graphics — simple textures photograph beautifully.
  • Think in layers and movement: linen, cotton, knits, denim, and flowy fabrics.
  • Mix tones, not colors — everyone in the same palette, but not matching.
  • Bare feet are always welcome.

For Families

  • Start with one outfit (often mom’s or the main subject’s) and build around it.
  • Let kids wear something they can move in — comfort matters more than perfection.
  • Bring a backup jacket, blanket, or favorite hat to add variety.

For Seniors

  • Bring 2–3 outfits that show different sides of your personality: one everyday, one dressier, one “you” outfit.
  • Skip neon tones or tight patterns — they can reflect color onto your skin.
  • Choose clothing you feel good in — confidence always photographs best.

For Couples

  • Start with one outfit (whoever is most decisive) and build the other around it.

• One person in texture (knit, linen) + the other in a solid always works beautifully.

SHOES

• Neutral, simple footwear is best or barefoot for beach/grass sessions.

BRING ALONG (OPTIONAL)

• A cozy jacket or sweater

• A blanket

• A simple accessory that feels true to you

  • Doggies!

location

The Oregon Coast and the woods around Astoria offer endless textures.

Each session is customized around light and landscape.

Popular Location Types

  • Coastal: dunes, cliffs, and tidepools — dreamy light, open skies, and wind-tousled hair.
  • Wooded: mossy forests and quiet trails — warm tones, soft light, and depth.
  • Field or River: golden grass and calm water — perfect for families or couples.
  • At Home: the most personal option — cozy, slow, and full of familiarity.
I’ll help you choose your location based on your session type, time of year, and what feels true to your story.

Vibe Check

You don’t need to rehearse. You just need to be present.

Come as you are — a little messy, a little late, fully human.

Here’s what matters most:

  • Connection over perfection.
  • Movement over stillness.
  • Laughter over posing.
  • Quiet moments count too.

I’ll guide you through gentle prompts and help everything feel natural. My sessions flow like conversation — a mix of direction and stillness, laughter and calm.

q&a

What if it rains?

We’ll embrace it if it’s light drizzle — the coast has its charm. For heavier weather, I’ll reschedule to the next best available date.

What time of day do sessions happen?

Typically during golden hour (sunrise or sunset). The softest light, the calmest air, and the best reflections happen then.

Can we bring our dog?

Always yes. Bring treats!

How long until we receive our photos?

Full galleries are delivered within 3–4 weeks. Sneak peeks come within a week.

Before You Go

Take a deep breath — the best photos come when you stop worrying about the outcome and simply enjoy the moment.

All I ask is that you bring yourself, your people, and a little trust.

The rest will unfold naturally.
