There are weddings with timelines, productions, and hundreds of moving pieces.
And then there are weddings like Tyler and Julia's.
The kind where the guest list is made up of the people who know you best.
The kind where conversations matter more than centerpieces. The kind where nobody is trying to impress anyone.
Just two people, surrounded by family and friends, getting married on a summer afternoon in Astoria.
Nestled above the Columbia River, Rosebriar Mansion felt like the perfect backdrop for it all. The historic home, gardens in bloom, and views stretching toward the water created a setting that felt both elegant and completely relaxed at the same time.
One of my favorite moments happened before the ceremony even began.
Tyler waited in the garden with a bouquet bursting with color while Julia made her way toward him. There wasn't a dramatic reveal or a crowd watching. Just anticipation, excitement, and the quiet realization that after all the planning and waiting, the day had finally arrived.
The ceremony itself was beautifully simple.
Family gathered in the front yard beneath soft skies overlooking the river. Vows were exchanged, rings were passed, and everyone leaned in close enough to feel like part of the moment rather than spectators to it. Afterward, guests spilled into the gardens and around the property, catching up with relatives, raising a toast, and enjoying one of those rare Astoria afternoons where time seems to slow down.
The details felt personal in all the right ways.
Wildflowers in vibrant reds, pinks, and purples.
Vintage touches scattered throughout the property.
A dress that felt timeless.
A bouquet that looked like it had been gathered straight from a summer garden.
And perhaps most importantly, plenty of Rainier beer making appearances throughout the celebration.
Because if you're getting married in the Pacific Northwest, it only feels right.
As the evening settled in, we wandered toward the water for portraits.
The Columbia stretched endlessly behind them while boats drifted quietly in the distance. The breeze picked up just enough to catch Julia's veil and remind everyone that we were, in fact, on the Oregon Coast. Those portraits ended up feeling a lot like the wedding itself.
Just Tyler and Julia enjoying the first few hours of being married.
The beginning of a new chapter together.
It felt like a reflection of the people at the center of it.
Tyler and Julia, thank you for inviting me into such a meaningful day. It was a joy to witness, document, and celebrate alongside all of the people who love you most.
Wishing you both a lifetime of slow mornings, good conversations, and reasons to keep choosing each other <3
